Highlights vs regular stories

Regular Instagram Stories disappear after 24 hours. Highlights are different. They're curated collections of past stories that a user pins to their profile permanently (or until they decide to remove them). Think of Highlights as a "best of" reel that sits right below someone's bio.

Each Highlight has a title and a cover image, and can contain dozens of individual story clips. Because they stick around indefinitely, they're often used for things like FAQs, portfolio samples, product catalogs, or trip recaps.

Downloading individual clips vs full albums

A single Highlight can contain many story clips. When you paste a Highlight URL into our tool, we'll show you each individual clip within it. You can download them one at a time or save the specific ones you need. This is useful when a Highlight has 30 clips but you only care about two or three of them.

Each clip downloads as either a JPG (for photo stories) or MP4 (for video stories), depending on what the creator originally posted.

How to find the Highlight URL

On desktop, go to someone's profile and click the Highlight you want. The URL in your browser's address bar will change to something like instagram.com/stories/highlights/123456789. Copy that URL. On mobile, open the Highlight, tap the three-dot menu, and look for a share or link option.

If a Highlight URL doesn't work, it might be from a private account. Our tool only accesses publicly available content. There's also a chance Instagram changed the Highlight's structure. Try refreshing the profile page and grabbing a fresh link.

Quality expectations

Highlight clips retain the same quality as the original stories. That usually means up to 1080 pixels wide for photos and 720p to 1080p for videos. Since these were all stories first, the quality depends on what was uploaded and how much Instagram compressed it during the initial upload.
